Practices of Enquiry was the first exhibition of teaching held at UAL, originally shown in Chelsea’s Cookhouse Gallery, but subsquently shown in the Showroom Gallery in High Holborn. The exhibition included work from 11 UAL tutors, and played host to a series of events and workshops. As the sole graphic designer for the exhibition, my role involved developing the identity, designing all print & digital elements, and producing the exhibition signage.
The Practices of Enquiry identity is based on two elements of teaching and learning; the first is the structure and planning the tutors do before a lesson takes place. The second is the lesson itself, which can often break away from the plan and require improvisation. The colours are based on the first thing we learn when studying art & design (the primary colours).
The events flyer and publications were all risograph printed at Hato Press (by me), and were designed particularly for this printing method.
